On March 31, 2026, MCA Detroit welcomed signatory contractors, industry partners, and association leaders to the 2026 Annual Meeting, held at Detroit’s MotorCity Casino. The evening brought together the mechanical and plumbing community for a program centered on transparency, collaboration, and the shared commitment to strengthening the region’s industry.

A Clear Vision for the Year Ahead

Chris Freeman, CEO of MCA Detroit, opened the program with a comprehensive State of the Association address. His remarks highlighted the organization’s continued momentum, strategic priorities for 2026, and the importance of aligning contractors, labor partners, and association leadership around a unified vision for industry advancement.

Building Engagement and Expanding Opportunities

Gregory Johnson, COO, introduced MCA Detroit’s staff and outlined new and ongoing opportunities for members to get involved. From Contractor Professional Development classes to committee participation, to industry initiatives and collaborative labor‑management efforts, attendees were encouraged to take an active role in shaping the association’s future. Johnson emphasized that MCA Detroit’s strength comes from the engagement and expertise of its contractor community.

Honoring a Legacy of Leadership

A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the 2026 Industry Stewardship Commendation, awarded to William James, Sr. President Randy Pagel and CEO Chris Freeman presented the honor, recognizing James for his decades of leadership, mentorship, and unwavering commitment to the mechanical and plumbing industry. His influence — from the field to the boardroom — continues to shape the standards and culture of MCA Detroit and its contractor community.

Keynote: Unlocking Motivation That Lasts

The program concluded with an energizing keynote address from Matt Brauning, who delivered Unlocking Motivation That Lasts! Brauning offered practical insights into sustaining personal and organizational motivation, leaving attendees with tools to strengthen their teams and elevate performance in a rapidly evolving industry.

A Night of Fellowship and Forward Momentum

Beyond the formal program, the Annual Meeting provided space for contractors, association staff, and industry partners to reconnect, share ideas, and build relationships. The atmosphere reflected the collaborative spirit that defines MCA Detroit’s work throughout the year.

MCA Detroit extends its appreciation to all who attended and contributed to a successful evening. The Annual Meeting is open to all signatory contractors and their teams, and we look forward to welcoming even more participants next year as we continue building a stronger, more unified industry.
