MCA Detroit Represented at UA/MCAA Mental Health Summit

MCA Detroit is proud to maintain a strong voice in national industry safety initiatives through the active involvement of our team members. This year, Samantha Moler, MCA Detroit's Health & Safety Manager, attended the UA/MCAA Mental Health Summit as a committee member with MCAA, helping shape discussions on some of the most important issues facing the construction industry today.
The inaugural UA-MCAA Mental Health Summit, held October 18–21, 2026, at the Grand Hyatt in Washington, DC, brought together mechanical contracting leaders, safety professionals, and union field teams under the theme “From Awareness to Action.” Over three days of keynotes, panels, and breakouts, attendees explored practical strategies for addressing mental health and substance use. Topics included peer ally programs, Employee Assistance Programs, suicide prevention and postvention, Narcan training, and field leadership. The summit wrapped up with an optional VitalCog Train-the-Trainer certification for those who wanted to lead mental health awareness training in their own organization.
By attending the inaugural UA-MCAA Mental Health Summit, Samantha is helping make sure MCA Detroit members have access to the latest strategies for addressing mental health and substance use in the construction industry. Under the summit’s theme, “From Awareness to Action,” she brings back practical tools on peer ally programs, suicide prevention, and supportive jobsite leadership. Her involvement reinforces MCA Detroit’s commitment to protecting the whole worker and to giving members timely, relevant resources that support their people both on and off the jobsite.
We thank Samantha for her dedication and leadership in helping keep MCA Detroit at the forefront of industry safety and health initiatives.
If you are interested in getting involved with health and safety in our industry or want to further your knowledge of VitalCog (suicide prevention training), reach out to Sam!
