Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee
(JATC)

The Plumber’s and Pipefitter’s JATCs are committed to providing top-tier training and apprenticeship programs for aspiring plumbers and pipefitters. Our mission is to develop skilled professionals through a blend of rigorous classroom instruction and hands-on experience in real-world settings. Trustees of these funds are representatives of both the contracts and locals, ensuring that each JATC is fair and balanced.

Apprenticeship Programs

In the Plumber’s and Pipefitter’s Apprenticeship Programs, you can earn while you learn!

Trade specific training has evolved into a sophisticated and comprehensive program of classroom, workshop, and on-the-job training. Unlike a traditional four-year college education, which can burden you with thousands of dollars in tuition debt, these apprenticeship programs leave the student with no tuition debt. Instead, they earn a competitive wage while acquiring the skills and certifications that will make them a highly employable professional tradesperson.

Organized Labor

Organized labor refers to workers banding together to form unions in order to collectively negotiate better wages, benefits, working conditions, and rights. Through the power of collective bargaining, unions amplify the voice of individual workers, ensuring fair treatment and advocating for their interests. Organized labor has been a cornerstone of social and economic progress, improving the lives of millions by fostering safer workplaces, promoting job security, and driving equitable growth.

Organized Contractors

Represented by MCA Detroit, organized contractors are companies or individuals in the construction and skilled trades industries who align with unionized labor to deliver high-quality projects. These contractors are committed to adhering to collective bargaining agreements, which ensure fair wages, benefits, and working conditions for their workers. By partnering with organized labor, these contractors not only uphold industry standards but also benefit from a highly skilled and trained workforce. Together, they strive for excellence in every project, fostering a culture of professionalism, safety, and efficiency.

MCA Detroit Member Contractors

Organized contractors who take the next step to become MCA Detroit Member Contractors receive all the rights and privileges granted by the Association. MCAD members gain access to MCAA resources, exclusive MCAD events, preferred pricing, opportunities to join the board, and the ability to influence the direction of the industry.
